Bulldogs
too good from dummy half, hammering Saints
in the first half just wide of the ruck
and taking a 28-0 lead at the break. Saints struggled for possession all night but recovered long enough to score tries and actually won the second half by 28-18. But they were unable to meet the challenge of the first half and paid dearly for defensive lapses when Bulldogs scored two tries in the 37th and 40th minutes. Ben Creagh injured. Standouts for Saints were Michael Ennis, Ben Hornby and Mathew Head. |

"Don't
ask me... let someone else look after it..." This seems the game plan attitude. I have never seen such a woeful start to the season. For the second week running, Saints failed to score in the first half and have conceded 92 points thus far. Storm 24-0 at half time. An overall inept performance. Players struggling with the notion of tackling and seemingly unable to deal with the concept of ball control. With respect, 'Fearless' must be turning in his grave. |

Saints
on the wrong end of 14-9 penalty count as
the ref hammered them. After leading 8-0
early, it was a sharper looking Dragons'
outfit. But a few calls went against them
to see Penrith back into match. At half
time it was 8-all. Saints had their chances and despite a number of dodgy calls, they can blame this loss on poor ball control, poor marker defence, and falure to put the ball carrier on the deck. Overall, the Panthers earned their victory. All the same, a much better showing from Saints and something to build on. |

Scrappy but well deserved win. Leading 18-0 after 20 minutes, it looked like Saints were going to run away with it, and they should have. But the Warriors came back to make 18-12 at half time, and with 25 minutes to go, Saints held a narrow 22-18 lead. Two tries in the last 10 minutes sealed the match. takes the field after being diagnosed with
bruised ribs. Cowboys missing 6 Origin players
and Saints were missing 5, but the Cowboys
still had their match-winning front row
intact. A slow start and trailing 4-0 early, Saints built up momentum to lead 6-4 at half time. Led by Timmins and Thompson, the young forwards stepped up to overpower the Cowboys pack, paving the way for the backs who were hungry for points right up until fulltime. A tremendous victory but Saints look to have lost Mat Head for the season after he suffered a cruciate knee ligament in the first half. |

After

before half time, the defence standing back

With only a handful of players playing to the whistle, Parra were able to run away unopposed to score. Saints never recovered after that. |

Another
soild win and one for Stoney. Saints are pushing for second position on the ladder. They led 22-0 at one point but slackened off, allowing the Cowboys to score either side of the break. But a big effort from the forwards, Bailey in particular, saw us home. Greenshields was the pick of the backs, safe as houses in the full back position and looking deadly in attack. Saints take on comp leaders next week in Brisbane, the Broncos no doubt looking over their shoulder and ready for a big one. |

1st
verses 3rd - Broncos (top of the ladder)
vs Saints (just installed as competition
favourites). Saints controlled play just wide of the ruck before breaking a nil-all deadlock after 32 minutes, Barrett running 60m to score & standing up Broncos fullback Karmichael Hunt along the way. Payne then scored after the break to make it 12-0 and Saints were well in charge. Almost 50,000 people on hand in Brissie with over 15,000 of them Saints supporters. Great effort from the Dragon Army and the Queensland supporters! Saints (30 pts) consolidate third position on the ladder behind the Broncos (34) and the Eels (32). Dragons now take on Parramatta Eels next Sunday at Kogarah. |

3rd verses 2nd - Leading 18-0 and then 19-6
at half time following a Barrett field goal,
Saints fell off in a little in the second
half as Parra came back. A nail-biting finish
with Parra attacking the Saints line in
the dying seconds. Great day out at a sold out Kogarah. A 'heritage match', the pre-match entertainment included a dedication to 85 years of Rugby League for the St George DRLC as well as photo opp for the St George veterans including some who won Saints' last Grand Finals in 1977 and 1979. Half time featured a fitting tribute to Robert Stone. With a top four spot secured, Saints now get a week off. |

After
leading 22-6 at half time, Saints looked
set to go on with it, Luke Bailey having
another sensational game up front. But Andrew
Johns' kicking game was superb and the Knights
rallied to get within two points in the
dying stages. The match was still up for
grabs until Saints finally put them away
just 90 second before full time. Ben Creagh injured and is reportedly out for 2-3 weeks. |

The
Sharks went into this match as rank outsiders
but kept fighting, in every sense of the
word, and made a game of it. After trailing 6-4 at half time and then 12-4 after the break, Saints scored three tries in eight minutes to take control of an error-ridden match in the wet. Some solid ruck play and a 40/20 from Barrett provided enough momentum to put Saints in front in the second half. Overall, far from convincing and not enough commitment in the first half. Saints could have been behind by a lot more. But a deserved win in the end and possibly a wake up call giving the lads something to contemplate over the next fortnight. Great game from Dean Young who was everywhere. |

A
disappointing exit for 2005. Saints appeared to be suffering from lack of match practice with too many handling errors. The Tigers controlled possession with repeat sets in the first half and at the break, were enjoying 66% of the ball. As a result, Saints were camped in their own half and forced to do a mountain of defence. A more even affair in the second half but Saints bombed too many opportunities. At 20-12, Saints were still in the contest but the Tigers locked up shop and were able to hold Saints out. SAINTS FIRST GRADERS NOW ELIMINATED FROM 2005 NRL COMPETITION. |

JERSEY
FLEGG GRAND FINAL A competitive first half which saw the scores locked up 10-all. Parra were well in the match scoring after half time. But Saints stepped up a gear, scoring two quick tries including a rip snorter from Tom Hewitt, set up by Josh Lewis. Saints scored again to make it 24-14 with 15 minutes left. Parra struck back to make it 24-20, setting up a tense finish. But Lewis stepped in again and on the back of some great forward play, set up another try to put the match beyond doubt.
