The Newcastle Knights have further bolstered their playing list ahead of the 2013 season with the confirmation centre Joseph Leilua has signed a two-year contract with the Club. The 21-year old has played 59 NRL games with the Sydney Roosters and was names 18th man for the New South Wales State of Origin team in 2012. Leilua joined the Knights on the first day back to pre-season training in 2013 but hasnt featured in trial matches due to an NRL imposed suspension. It has taken some time but we are pleased to have signed Joseph on a two-year contract before the season started, CEO Matt Gidley said. Joseph has a great opportunity at the Knights playing under Wayne (Bennett) and we are confident of seeing him play his best football here. In registering Leiluas contract the NRL stipulated he wasnt eligible for selection in any team until the conclusion of Round 4. While it would have been ideal to have Joseph available given an injury to Timana (Tahu), we are fortunate to have good depth in this position and we look forward to Joseph joining our squad. |
