Born
in Port Kembla, NSW, Bailey is an Illawarra junior and
played with Shell Harbour.
He was the NRL competition's top tackler for 2003.
Selected for 2003 Kangaroo train-on squad, Bailey was
certain to go on tour but had to withdraw due to ear surgery.
In 2003, Bailey was nominated for the club's Integral
Energy Dragons Medal (won by Ben Hornby) and was awarded
the club's Red V Members Player of the Year.
Following an outstanding effort in club football, Bailey
gained selection for the Kangaroos in the Australia v
New Zealand 'Anzac' Test match in 2004.
Bailey was set for further rep honours in 2004 with NSW
and Australia, but a torn left chest muscle (pectoral)
in May, and subsequent surgery, saw a major disruption
to his season.
Bailey played an outstanding season in 2005 for the Dragons
and NSW but an ongoing
ear infection saw him pull out of the Tri-Nations tour
later in the same year.
In 2005 Luke Bailey won the St George Bank Dragons Medal,
a gold medal awarded the club's best player of 2005.
Bailey played an outstanding 2006 season with the Dragons,
hitting top form coming into the finals. But in 2007,
at aged 27, Bailey has been signed to a four year deal
to play for the re-newed Gold Coast Titans club.

Born in Temora, NSW, Trent Barrett was considered a
schoolboy sensation in his home town before boarding
at St Gregory's in Campbelltown, NSW. He went on to
represent Country, NSW, as well as Australia at Test
level, in the Rugby League World Cup and Kangaroo tours
including the Tri-Nations series (now classed as Test
matches).
Possessing a sharp passing game, Barrett was graded
as a 16 year-old in 1993, debuting in first grade for
the Illawarra Steelers in 1996. He represented NSW just
nine months later.
In 1999, Barrett moved to half back to make way for
five eighth Anthony Mundine. Following Mundine's departure
in 2000, Barrett claimed the number 6 jersey as his
own.
Barrett became part time captain of Saints in late 2001,
taking over as club captain from 2002 onwards.
In a career hampered by injuries, Barrett suffered a
season-ending ankle injury in May, 2003; but not before
posting his 100th game with the Dragons' joint venture.
Barrett came back in 2004 and gained selection for NSW
in State of Origin 3.
He was selected in the 2004 Tri-Nations Kangaroo squad
before being forced to withdraw due to injury.
In 2005, Barrett was again selected in the Australian
Tri-Nations squad. Playing four Tests including the
Tri-Nations final, Barrett played twice off the bench
as a utility hooker before being promoted into the run-on
side at five eighth following the withdrawal of Darren
Lockyer.
In 2006, Barrett announced that he had signed a three
year deal with English Club the Wigan Warriors, beginning
in 2007.
In 2008, Barrett announced that he was returning to
Australia and the NRL, and later signed a two-year deal
with the Sharks beginning in 2009.

on his day.
Bartrim firmly declared himself a St George clubman during
the ARL/SL split of 1996-97.
Went on to play for Castleford in the UK.
In 2008, Bartrim reportedly filed for legal action against
the Nine Network for defamation over A Current Affair's
story on June 13, 2007 (immediately prior to Origin II)
about the financial collapse of his gym. Bartrim is claiming
the story was defamatory because it contained a raft of
false allegations. He was declared bankrupt in May 2006

Bath was graded with Brisbane Souths when only 16-years-old,
and won a premiership with them in 1945. He played for
Queensland (1945) and NSW (1946-47) before turning 21.
After moving to Sydney, Bath played in two Balmain Tigers'
premiership winning sides (1946-47).
A knee injury denied Bath a spot in the 1946 Australian
team prompting him to take up lucrative offers in the
strong UK League.

After
shifting to England, Bath played briefly with Barrow before
playing over 500 games for Warrington in nine seasons.
The highlight of his UK stint being the 1950 Challenge
Cup Final when he captained Warrington to victory in front
of a then record crowd of 106,000 people. Rated as a prolific
point-scoring forward, Bath holds a Warrington club record
of 363 points in the 1952-1953 season.
In 1957 and aged 32, Bath returned to Australia to link
up with Saints after Balmain rejected him because of his
age.
Bath then played in three grand final victories (1957-59)
thus posting the unique record of never playing in a premiership
losing side in Sydney.
Before hanging up his boots, Bath was sent off in the
1959 grand final, along with Manly forward Rex Mossop.
Arguably
best player not to represent Australia, Harry Bath holds
a number of point scoring records:
Most goals in a grand final 1957 (8 goals from 8 attempts).
Most points in a grand final 1957 (16 points).
Competition top scorer 1958 (225pts).
Competition top scorer 1959 (205pts).
St George most goals ever in one season 1958 (108g).
St George most points ever in one season 1958 (225pts).
Harry Bath was also the club's top point scorer in 1959
(205pts).
Bath
coached Balmain (1961-66) to grand finals against St George
(1964 and 1966). He also coached Newtown (1969-72) and
Australia (1962 and 1968-1972) where he became the sole
selector of Australia's 1962 Ashes side and coached the
1968 and 1970 Australian sides to World Cup wins.
'The Old Fox' carried his aggressive forward influence
into the next generation when he successfully coached
a young St George Dragons side - known as 'Bath's Babes'
- to two premiership victories in 1977 and 1979.
He retired from coaching in 1981.
In 2004, Bath was inducted into the Rugby League Hall
of Fame. In 2008, he was named as one of rugby league's
'100 Greatest Players'.
In 2008, on the eve of the NRL centenary grand final,
Harry Bath passed away following a long battle with illness.
He was 83-years old.

Born 22 Nov 1978, Sydney.
An Engadine Dragons junior, Colin Best debuted in first
grade with the Cronulla Sharks (v North Sydney, Toyota
Park, May 30, 1998, round 12).
After scoring 43 tries in 81 games, Best was shown the
door by the Sharks at the end of 2002. He signed with
UK club, Hull for 2003-2004.
Signed by Saints in 2005, Best was viewed by many as the
replacement for outgoing winger Nathan Blacklock (Blacklock
also signed with Hull). Following a slow start to the
season where the team lost their first four matches, Best
attracted criticism in some quarters. But he bounced back
to hold down his first grade spot and play every round
on offer. Best turned out to be a tremendous finisher,
forming an excellent partnership with centre Mark Gasnier.
The club's top NRL try scorer in 2005 (20 tries from 26
matches), Colin Best was just one try short of being the
competition's equal leading try scorer (Cowboys' Matt
Bowen scored 21 tries).
Colin Best played 19 first grade matches for the Dragons
in 2006, scoring six tries. He is signed to played for
the Canberra Raiders in 2007.
In 2006, Best's NRL career stats were 126 games, 69 tries
(276pts).

Fullback.
Aust rep (2001).
The Competition's top try scorer: 1999, 2000, 2001.
Club's top try scorer (first grade): 1998, 1999, 2000,
2001, 2003.
Club's top point scorer (first grade): 2000.
Hailing from Tingha, NSW, Nathan Blacklock came to Saints
in 1997 after making just five appearances (and scoring
one try) with the Roosters in 1995.
A crowd favourite and match winner, Blacklock often left
his wing to attack up the centre of the ruck.
Scored a sensational try in the 1999 grand final. While
playing at fullback, 'Tingha' accelerated onto a chip
kick from the opposition. He scooped up the ball, racing
through a gap to score under posts 60 metres downfield.
During an outstanding season in 2001, Blacklock was controversially
overlooked for NSW selection. He was selected for Australia,
playing in two Tests and scoring two tries.
Following a short stint with the NSW Waratahs in Rugby
Union, Blacklock made his return to the Dragons in 2003,
where he was again the club's top try scorer in first
grade.
At 28, Blacklock signed a two year contract with UK club
Hull, beginning in 2005.
A sensational player and hugely popular, Blacklock departed
Australia with a first grade career total of 121 tries
from 142 games.
In August 2006, following a recurring knee injury, the
30-year-old Blacklock announced his retirement from the
game. In a Hull FC press release, Blacklock said: "Im
disappointed Ive had to call it a day, but I simply
cant give the 100 per cent I want to anymore because
of injuries."
Since arriving at the KC Stadium in Hull from, Tingha
quickly became a fans favourite, scoring 16 tries
in 24 Super League appearances to finish as the clubs
leading try-scorer. In 2006, he has crossed for 13 tries
in 21 games, frequently playing injured. Hull FC's Peter
Sharp added: "Tingha has enjoyed a marvellous career.
He has achieved some things in rugby league that most
people can only dream about."

Frank Burge was the greatest try scoring
forward in the history of the game. He holds numerous
try scoring records including most tries in one first
grade match (8 tries for Glebe in 1920). Burge held
the record for the most first grade career tries for
a forward (146 tries) - a record only surpassed in 2004
by Manly lock Steve Menzies, who scored many of his
tries while playing in the centres.
Born in 1895, Burge was a Souths Rugby Union player,
amazingly debuting in first grade at just 14 years of
age. Burge switched to Rugby League and played with
Glebe from 1911-23 & 1926. He made his Test debut
against Great Britain in 1914.
In 1927, Burge link up with the '26 wooden spooners
the St George 'Dragon Slayers'.
An innovative and dedicated professional, Burge turned
around Saints' fortunes, leading them to their maiden
premiership final and runners up in 1927.
His philosophy was simple; positive football and pride
in yourself and your club. This attitude sank deep into
St George and became a foundation stone which would
carry the Dragons for many years to come.
Burge stayed on as coach of St George until 1930 before
coaching Norths (1935), Canterbury (1936), Newtown (1940)
and Wests (1947). He returned to Saints in 1937 where
once again, he lifted the listless club - this time
from second last place to equal second place.
The mighty Frank Burge, aged 64, passed away suddenly
in 1958 after meeting with former St George clubman
Reg Fusedale and some other friends for a morning swim
at Brighton Baths. He collapsed in Marrickville later
that afternoon while en route to a Newtown v Norths
match at Henson Park.

Born at St George hospital in 1981 and a St George junior
(Peakhurst Hawks), Dean Byrne broke both his feet in
2002 before recovering to debut in First Grade in 2003.
Byrne captained the lower grade Premier League side
but the club were unable to find him a regular spot
in the top grade.
A tremendous prospect, Dean Byrne signed with the South
Sydney Rabbitohs for 2004 before his career was cut
short, a serious leg injury forcing the 24-year-old
into early retirement.
